Hastelloy Bellows

Hastelloy bellows, we refer to bellows made of Hastelloy alloy. Hastelloy bellows have become more suitable in some corrosion-resistant circumstances where stainless steel 304, 316L formed metal bellows cannot meet.

From DN15 to DN300.

Technical description

Hastelloy is a nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloy divided into nickel-chromium and nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys.

Hastelloy has the characteristics of high strength and high toughness. However, these cause it to have particular difficulties in bellows forming.

The forming methods of Hastelloy bellows on the market are mainly edge welding forming and hydraulic forming.

Bellows experts suggest adding solution heat treatment to the tube blank before the hydroforming process to improve the cold deformation capacity of the tube. Then, after forming the corrugated pipe, perform another solution heat to eliminate the residual stress.

To ensure that the weld seam is not oxidized, argon gas with a purity of 99.999% should be used for protection. And use argon arc welding and low-current welding during the process.

To ensure the pickling quality of Hastelloy bellows, pickling passivation should be carried out with hydrofluoric acid pickling cream without nitric acid.

Must use Hastelloy welding wire when welding Hastelloy and stainless steel to ensure welding performance. We choose the ERNiCrMo-4 welding wire.

hastelloy bellows applications

Hastelloy bellows have the characteristics of being corrosion-resistant. People can use it in robust corrosive flow medium circumstances.

  • Heat exchanger
  • Flue gas desulfurization and denitrification
  • Bellows compensator
  • Bellows mechanical seal
  • Bellows valve

Hastelloy types

Hastelloy mainly has three series: B, C and G. The most widely used materials are the second-generation materials N10665 (B-2), N06455 (C-4), N06022 (C-22), N10276 (C-276), and N06985 (G-3).
