AM350 Bellows
AM350 Bellows
The AM350 bellows are custom bellows with high mechanical strength, serving as flexible connection solutions under extreme working conditions. AM350 bellows can be used to compensate for pipeline displacement, absorb equipment vibrations, and isolate internal and external system pressures. The main product types of AM350 bellows are small diameter edge welded bellows and large diameter thick walled bellows assemblies. The tensile strength of AM350 after age hardening is about twice that of ordinary stainless steel, which means AM350 bellows can use thinner materials to withstand higher pressure. For some medium and high pressure applications, the AM350 bellows not only have better pressure resistance, but also reduce the overall weight of the bellows assembly. Due to the use of thin walled raw materials, the AM350 bellows also achieve better sensitivity than stainless steel bellows. When precise control is required, the AM350 bellows can quickly and accurately return to the original position. In contrast, stainless steel bellows are relatively softer and do not recover as well as AM350 bellows.

About AM350 Material
AM350 is a very unique semi-stainless steel that combines the machinability of austenitic stainless steel with the high strength of martensitic stainless steel. The AM350 raw material in its delivered state is soft austenite, which is easy to form into bellows or diaphragm stamping. Once the AM350 bellows are formed, they need to be cold-treated to transform the metastable austenite into a high-strength martensitic matrix. Finally, high-temperature aging is used to harden the AM350 bellows, giving them ultra-high yield strength and fatigue resistance.
Age Hardening/Precipitation Hardening
The age hardening provides stability to the internal structure of the metal, which also endows the AM350 with excellent fatigue resistance. AM350 bellows can withstand up to millions of cycles without experiencing fatigue failure or cracking. When your metal bellows frequently crack at the crests, replacing them with AM350 bellows is a viable option. Considering the expensive material cost and complex manufacturing process of the AM350 bellows, it is used only in some critical positions.
