Expansion joint

PTFE expansion joint is a flexible pipe connection made of polytetrafluoroethylene. PTFE expansion joint is composed of PTFE expansion bellows, flanges, and limit screws. The two ends of the PTFE expansion joint are connected with rotatable carbon steel flanges. And the PTFE expansion bellows isolate the direct contact between the carbon steel flange and the circulating medium. Chemical pipelines that circulate corrosive media use PTFE expansion joints widely.

PTFE expansion joints can effectively stretch and deform, absorb the dimensional changes of pipes, conduits, containers, etc., due to thermal expansion and contraction or compensate for the axial, lateral, and angular displacement of pipes, tubes, containers, etc.

PTFE is one of the materials with the best corrosion resistance today. It is resistant to all other chemicals except molten alkali sodium, chlorine trifluoride, and gaseous fluorine. The most commonly used structural form of PTFE expansion bellows is three convolutions. We can customize the PTFE expansion bellows with more convolutions according to displacement needs.

There are two types of PTFE expansion joints according to the product structure: PTFE expansion joints and PTFE lined expansion joints. Use PTFE expansion joints when the diameter is relatively small and the working pressure is relatively low. When the diameter is large, and the operating pressure is relatively high, choosing a reinforced PTFE-lined expansion joint is necessary.

Before the installation, remove the three fixing screws between the two flanges and adjust the nuts to the top. When the pipeline expands with heat and contracts with cold, it is best to let the flange slide freely on the screw. Remove the limit screws when the angular deviation is significant.

When installing, the PTFE expansion joint cannot be stretched or compressed, and try to keep it in a free state (standard length). Install the flanges correctly and mount the bolts evenly. Pay attention to maintaining the PTFE convolution and lap to avoid being broken or pierced.

applications

KIPFLEX designs, manufactures, inspects, packs, transports, and stores PTFE expansion joints strictly following Chinese national standards GB/T15700-2008 and HG/T3985-2007. Before storage or delivery, our PTFE expansion joints will undergo a pressure test of 1.25 times the design pressure and keep the pressure for 30 minutes to ensure stable and reliable product quality.
